My Impressions:  
I love reading books about the human body, especially anything to do with neuroscience and biology. The function and structure of the way God designed us is so amazing and fascinating that I simply cannot get enough. Our Nervous System is no different. Dr. Callentine does an amazing job of really captivating her audience with beautiful illustrations and entertaining and interesting facts about our nervous system. 

This wonderful book is broken down into eleven simple chapters that range from 42 vocabulary words and phrases that are divided into three levels, to the history of neurology and historical points of interest, to the brain, A&P, blood barriers and health facts to wacky and zany facts about the brain. 

What I really loved about this book was the wide range of material that the author covers. Everything from social studies, history, vocab, health and nutrition to biology. This really was an all encompassing book.  What I found the most fascinating though were the machines. I am taking a neurobiology course at college right now and we are delving into all the different machines and the multitude of things they can be used for that are still cutting edge. Things like using different machines to test the effectiveness of medications, proper diagnosis, rehabilitation potential, jury selection and so much more! It is a really fascinating discuss with alot of moral and ethical implications. 

Although this book is aimed at elementary,both of my high school kids picked it up and read it on their own and thought it was interesting. They each learned things they did not know and enjoyed taking about with my and their 8 year old brother. So really I dont think you can say this book is just for this age group because it covered so much that it appeal to kids on different levels.
