Easter Week

This is Easter week. It is a time when a lot of families gather together to dye eggs, go on easter egg hunts, take bluebonnet photos, visit with the Easter bunny, have family picnics and the like. I have nothing against these traditions, there fun.  I do them myself with my kiddos, but unlike with many families, this is not our families focus at this time of the year.

For our family it is a time of celebration, remembrance and thankfulness. It is a time when our family remember God incarnate, leaving all of his rights and privileges to enter the world of humanity, to live with us, to suffer with and for us, and then, to die for us to receive God's holy wrath in our place. Because of that, we can stand clean before a holy God. But mankind voted, and they crucified him. They mocked him, scourged him, and executed him. But then, he rose from the grave.

He is risen; He is risen indeed!
Matthew 28:6  "He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay."

Even now, God holds out his arms of love for those who will come, be they gay, straight, Asian, African or Anglo, male or female, criminal or priest; but all who come must expect to be radically changed. Come as we are, but his spirit will not let us stay as we are. To the prostitute he said, "your sins are forgiven, now go and sin no more."

He will return, and will separate those who hate him from those who love him. "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." - John 3:36.

Yes, it's fair. He will never make someone who hates him, live with him forever. The mocking continues; and He will return.
