Though My Heart Is Torn by Joanne Bischof

About the Book:
Settling into a simple life in the majestic Blue Ridge mountains, Lonnie and Gideon O’Riley have finally found happiness after the rocky start to their marriage. The roguish bluegrass musician has fallen in love with his gentle wife and the God she serves, and Lonnie rests secure in his tenderness for her and their young son. A heartless ruse interupts their peace, bringing them back to Rocky Knob—and forces them to face the claims of Cassie Allan, a woman who says she is Gideon’s rightful wife.

My Review:

This is the 2nd book in The Cadence of Grace series. Although this is the 2nd book, it stands nicely on its own accord as well. Love is tested and torn apart in this wonderful book.  When Gideon realized he is married to 2 women, Cassie and Lonnie, he must make the decision that will alter everyone’s lives. Beautifully wrote you are reminded time and again of Gods provisions for us all and His unfailing love for us. Despite circumstances that surround us, we are not in control, God is, and if we only listen to Him and His will for our lives, it is amazing how He orchestras it all for His glory. We just have to step out of the way and surrender. That is the trial that Gideon, Lonnie and Cassie all faced. I loved watching the characters grow and their faith deepen with each turn of the page. The book was not written from an unrealistic standpoint, but instead faced issues head on allowing you to feel with the characters. Imagining yourself in the situation, struggling to do the right things and  wondering where God is in the midst, but still relying on Him.
I highly recommend this book for lovers of historical fiction for ages 15 and up.
